Echo Lake in Acadia National Park is our favorite swimming spot in Bar Harbor. It’s gorgeous, the water isn’t frigid, it tends to be less populated than Sand Beach, parking isn’t terrible and the water is shallow for quite a distance so Julian can wade out and have his sense of freedom. He is still just learning to swim so he loves a chance to explore in the water without the fear of going over his head. The mountain to the left has trails on it so while on the beach or in the water you can watch them walking along. Also at the lake, there are flushable bathrooms, changing areas, and lifeguards on duty during the day. We went there for the first time this past summer and we’ll be returning next I’m sure. Here are some photos from our day there last Labour Day.
