There’s a lot I love about living in a college town. Theres the sporting events, great community programs, shows, and once a year lots of my old college friends come visit me, all at once, in the name of Homecoming. It almost feels unfair that all I have to do is walk down the street to get to these reunions while some have to drive 3 + hours. I have one amazing friend that has stayed at my home for all the homecomings. The first year she stayed with us she randomly picked up a Fall themed cake from Hannaford as a sort of hostess gift and thus set the bar for all her homecoming visits really high. We now joke that she can’t NOT bring the cake because then it would be “The year Sarah didn’t bring the cake”. So while it’s not a planned thing I was so looking forward to that cake and she didn’t disappointed. Anyway! All that to say I love Homecoming because it includes my friends, football, and cake. Always the cake. And now that it’s written here Sarah, no, you can never not bring the cake. Thank you for the cake.
Having Julian here makes it even that much more fun. While he doesn’t really care much for sports he loves the hype, the food, and of course- bananas the UMaine mascot.
Here’s his homecoming Bananas high five from last year:
We won the game! Later that night I went to dinner with some of my sorority members and then my friend and I felt nostalgic and decided to go out to the town’s one dance club for about 20 minutes. We had a ball but I couldn’t hear well for the rest of the night. #old.
Homecoming is always a great time and this year was no different.
