It’s crazy to think we did so much in one day that it’s taken me three blog posts to cover it all, but there is just that much to do, see, and eat in Camden, Maine. Earlier this week I shared our hike up Bald Rock Mountain (here) as well as our time at the Camden Amphitheater and library (here). Now for the last part of our day we walked around downtown, the harbor and ate dinner.
There are so many cute shops in downtown Camden and I could have easily spent a ton of money. The storefronts were enough eye candy to satisfy me though. They were gorgeous and I loved looking through the windows while we walked to dinner.
I put Derek in charge of picking the restaurant we went to for dinner. He took his job very seriously and even called certain places to ask about kid’s menus. I was REAL impressed. My boo doesn’t like to plan much. He decided on The Drouthy Bear. It was really cozy and had traditional Scottish, English and Irish foods as well as a plain old cheese burger (luckily) for our Julian. We played a game of Sorry while waiting for our food, which didn’t take long at all even though the place was getting busy. My salad was so good and Derek loved his Steak Stilton!
For dessert we went to the Camden Deli. They had lots of treats and coffee and this mug posing outside. That photo of Julian kills me!We took our desserts down to the harbor where we found these benches with this view and I about died right there. After we sat I kept noticing people coming down and taking up nearby benches for the amazing show the sunset over the harbor was. and here is Julian after a can of orange soda… Here’s me with Julian who is clearly still coming off that orange soda. #parentingfail. We had SUCH an adventure exploring Camden, ME. When we got back in the car to leave Julian said, “What a day!” A phrase I had never heard him say before. I love being able to travel to one spot and do a few different things in a few short miles of each other. This little coastal town was perfect for just that. Also- views like the one above don’t hurt the experience at all. Sunsets are always a great closer-outter to a day and this one really finished off the trip in a great way for us.
Until next time Camden! xoxo
